The Process of Elimination
(& the value of being “pooped out”)
So you already have to forgive me for my play on words, but this is important! To be truly healthy, we need to “evacuate” the bowels every morning. That sounds simple, but is not always easy. NOT emptying your bowels may make a huge difference in how you feel during the day.
Our bodies need to get rid of waste material, or we may feel fatigued, drowsy and irritable during the day. If you don't have a bowel movement every day on a regular basis, you are probably constipated.
Constipation can be a result of several diet or lifestyle factors such as a lack of enzymes and beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal system, not eating enough fiber, dehydration, stress, and/or ignoring one's “natural urges”. Here are some tips to beat constipation: Drink lots of water daily. Yes, the colon needs fiber, but it also has to be moist. Water is crucial for proper elimination. Lack of water accelerates the plaguing in the colon. Our reliance on sugar and caffeine now come into play as these foods are very dehydrating.
The colon not only eliminates solid waste, it’s also a major lymphatic drainage area. If the bowels are plaqued or plugged, the lymph's can't drain. Back to the fiber: Try to consume at least 40 grams of fiber daily. (1 C. Brown Rice, Whole Grains (such as Quinoa), Legumes, Fresh Veggies (Including Squash), and Fruit, Flaxseed oil is a natural stool softener. (Try 1-3 Tbsp. Daily if needed.)
Improve Digestion by slowing down. Relax when you start eating and try actually chewing your food! (Your stomach does not have teeth).
Reduce your STRESS! Breathe, laugh, walk, stretch and RELAX!
Try including a digestive enzyme with meals to release food nutrients.
Signs of poor digestion include burning, gas, body odor, and bad breath. Want to lose weight? Try digesting your food, and eliminating the waste, plain and simple. And the bowels aren’t the only elimination system! The human body has essentially four major elimination systems: The bowels, the lungs, the urinary tract, and the skin. Each system is specifically designed to eliminate excess and waste. If we don't eliminate the waste, then it becomes a poison. The colon eliminates solids, the urinary tract eliminates liquids, the lungs eliminate gases, and the skin, also known as the "blow out valve" will eliminate all three.
SO, be aware of the Process of Elimination, and
do what you need to do daily to get “pooped out”!
