Dear Friends:

With The Oaks about to celebrate its 34th year, I am ever thankful for our loyal employees and guests. You are the reason The Oaks continues to thrive! To ensure a great experience for you, we are constantly improving the facilities, like our lobby renovation starting September 6th (see article in newsletter).

Our wonderful Eleanor Brown – the talent behind so many of our fabulous meals, and a great yoga and pool instructor – recently retired from her scheduled programs at The Oaks at age 85. Elegant, fit and a beautiful role model, Eleanor promises to stop by to dine with our guests and consult on the food plan when she is not traveling or spending time with her extended grand-family. We will miss her terribly, but wish her great joy in this new chapter of her life.

As daughter Cathy is running our daily operations, I am able to donate more time to organizations like the American Heart Association. Last year, I was the keynote speaker at the Go Red for Women luncheon in Santa Barbara, as well as this May in Monterey and next year in Little Rock, Arkansas. What a joy it is to volunteer and inspire other women and men. I’d love to help out at your non-profit and spread the fitness message! Just e-mail my assistant at judy@oaksspa.com.

Come out and watch as I resume my role as Mrs. Santa Claus on ice at the Channel Islands Figure Skating Club’s holiday show on December 9th, 10th and 11th. And lastly, help Don and me celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary with a special hike on Saturday, July 16th!

Hi, dear Oaks, I was opening your newsletter and trying to continue the "read on" for story re the upcoming September lobby renovations; it just brings me back to your home page. Eventually, IF there is more printed info on planned details of what parts
there will be affected as we're there I would be interested in following them, before coming (as I am scheduled to do). Thanks so much ! and HELLOS

I just wrote an e-mail about the "read on" section of lobby work story in newsletter bringing me back to site and then I saw the green-listed items on left; there I did open info on lobby details so thank you and some are contained in the newsletter! Ann
