What do you want to do with your grandchildren? Sit on a rocking chair and watch them, run, swing, skate, ski, etc., or do you want to play with them? The choice is yours if you stay fit. Without good health, mobility, balance and strength, you will have no choice in the matter.
I love the fact that I can figure skate for two hours with my granddaughter and then take her out to dinner. We do this together weekly. What a bonding experience and one I am sure she will never forget.
When the other six grandchildren arrive at our house, I have the energy to garden, swim and play in the park with them, activities that many grandparents unfortunately cannot do with their grandchildren because their physical conditions will not allow it. Fitness, friendship and fun with grand-kids will be greatly increased when you can play with them, not just sit and watch them.
We can inspire more than exercise! I've used skating with my granddaughter Sophia to teach her the value of giving back. Recently, we did a pairs routine on the ice to raise money for a non-profit. Did she want to do it?? Not really! However, she put herself out for a good cause. This was a lesson in life that I feel she will remember. Did she feel good after the performance? Absolutely! Did skating in front of a few hundred people elevate her confidence level? Yes, yes, yes!

You are amazing! It's no wonder, your daughter, Kimberly has inherited the same zest for life as her beautiful mother. The 3rd generation follows!
