Q: How do I make a reservation at The Oaks?

A: You may call our Toll Free Reservations number at 1-800-753-6257. While staying at The Oaks, you may also make reservations for a future stay. You may also book a room on Booking.com.

Deposits are fully refundable when notice of cancellation is given prior to 7 days in advance of arrival. Within 7 days of arrival, deposits are forfeited. Cancellations for stays during our discounted specials (Mother/Daughter, Bring a Friend, etc.) require 14 days notice. This applies to date changes as well.

Q: What payment methods are accepted?

A: We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, Personal Checks, Traveler’s Checks and Cash.

Q: Can I arrive prior to the 3:00pm Check-In time?

A: Yes, you may arrive prior to the designated Check-In Time. We offer all of our 12 daily classes A La Carte prices can be found here. However, we cannot guarantee your room until 3:00 PM. If you come early, you can secure your belongings in a locker with the Front Desk.

Q: Who is your typical guest at the Oaks?

A: The typical Oaks guest is anyone who wants to relax and take in all the positive, nurturing elements of a healthy lifestyle here in beautiful Ojai California. The Oaks guests range in age from 16 to about 85, both male and female.

Q: Is the use of electronic devices permitted?

A: In order to maintain a relaxing and healthy atmosphere The Oaks is a cell-phone silent environment. You may make phone calls in the privacy of your own room and outside The Oaks’s front doors. We request that all of our guests silence their devices when in public areas and during classes. There is WiFi access available in all areas of the hotel should you need to use your devices quietly.

Q: Do you have a laundry facility?

A: Yes, we have a self-service washer and dryer on site. A wash load costs 75 cents and a dry load costs 25 cents. Detergent is available, but feel free to bring your own. We do not sell or provide dryer sheets, however.

Q: Do you have a safe place for my valuables?

A: Yes, The Oaks offers complimentary safety deposit boxes (2.5” X 22”), which are located at the front desk. The Suites have personal safety deposit boxes. For security reasons most guests choose to leave their valuables at home.

Q: What is the policy on tipping?

A: A daily service charge is posted to your account to cover gratuities for the cooks, wait staff, housemen, and housekeepers. Tips are not included in the price of any ticketed service. Tips can be paid in cash after your service or can be added to your ticket and charged to your room.

Q: How many Guests can you accommodate?

A: The Oaks has 46 rooms and can comfortably accommodate 78 guests. Our cozy atmosphere is what keeps guests returning year after year.

Q: Will I feel comfortable if I come alone?

A: Yes! In fact, Spa Magazine selected The Oaks at Ojai for the Silver Sage Awards in four categories, one of which was “Favorite Spa for Traveling Solo.”

Q: What is the smoking policy?

A: The Oaks is a non-smoking facility. If you choose to smoke, you must do so outside The Oaks property.

Spa Services:

Q: How do I make Spa Appointments?

A: Stop by the guest concierge desk anytime during your stay to book your appointments. We are more than happy to book your appointments prior to arrival.

Q: What if I need to cancel a service or forget to show up?

A: Spa Service cancellations must be done by 7:00am on the day of the service. You will be held responsible for cancelled or missed appointments after that time and will be charged. Some services have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so please check the tickets you sign.

Q: What is the Oaks Spa Cuisine?

A: Our daily calorie conscious menu features foods that are naturally low in fat, salt, and sugar. We use the freshest fruits and vegetables, a variety of whole grains, seafood, and white meat or poultry. Our food is seasoned with both dried and fresh herbs (many of which are grown on site, in our own herb garden), lemon, wine, spices, gourmet vinegars, and our own tomato salsa.

Prepared by experienced chefs, our Spa Cuisine is a sensible approach to nutrition. As an American Plan Spa, The Oaks provides a well-rounded, portion conscious food plan that consists of three meals, snacks and beverages. The varied menus are balanced, with special attention to good fats needed to fuel an active mind and body.  Our meals are inspired by an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds and lean protein featuring wild fish and poultry – all without a touch of additional salt or refined sugar used in the preparation.  More here.

Q: Do I need to bring anything special for early morning walks/hikes?

A: You need to bring comfortable hiking/walking shoes that have an appropriate amount of tread. The hiking trails do not require hiking boots, but some guests do prefer wearing them for stability purposes.

It is advisable to dress in layers during the early morning activities to accommodate for the changing climate and your increase in body temperature.

You do not need to carry your own water on the hikes because your hike leaders will carry a backpack filled with water, cups, napkins and of course a First Aid Kit. Your only concern during the early morning hike should be to have fun and enjoy the scenery!

Q: What will I need to bring for the exercise classes?

A: The Oaks offers a wide variety of exercise classes, featured both inside and outside. The inside exercise classes are equipped with all props needed for classes. Bring an appropriate pair of athletic shoes and come ready to work out!

If you plan to participate in an outdoor pool class, be sure to bring your swimsuit, sun block, hat, and flip-flops. The pool water is heated to a comfortable 80-84 degrees year round. Many guests also bring water shoes to protect their feet from the pool surface. And yes, towels are provided for your convenience by the pool side.

Q: How fit do I need to be before coming to The Oaks?

A: The Oaks accommodates most average levels of fitness. The Oaks can be a perfect start to a fitness program or a way to maintain your current fitness regimen. We do not target the elite athlete, or the completely immobile.

Q: How much weight can I anticipate losing?

A: The weight loss that occurs at The Oaks varies greatly. Like any other weight loss program, the amount someone can lose depends on personal factors like age, weight, current fitness level and more.

While here at The Oaks you will eat controlled portions of healthy tasty food and have the opportunity to participate in up to 12 exercise classes a day. Combining healthy low-calorie eating with exercise will no doubt help you get on the right track to reach your desired weight.
